Diptyque Orphéon Eau de Toilette: A Luminous Jazz Bar in Midday Sun

Updated: Apr 22

To celebrate their 60th anniversary, Diptyque has reached deep into its olfactive memory to revive the soul of Saint-Germain. Their latest release, Orphéon Eau de Toilette (2026), is a portal to the late-night bar that once sat adjacent to the original Diptyque boutique, a place where founders gathered to weave the brand's very identity.

While the original Eau de Parfum (created by the late Olivier Pescheux) captured the smoky, powdery atmosphere of a late night, this new EDT, composed by Natalie Gracia-Cetto, flips the switch. It takes that same cultural zeitgeist and bathes it in the airy, radiant light of a spring midday.

The Scent Profile: From Gin & Tonic to Clean Musks

The composition is a "Woody Spicy" fragrance that feels more like an "Elevated Freshie." It opens with a spirited burst that mimics the first sip of a botanical apéritif.

  • The Opening: A sharp, zesty introduction of Japanese Yuzu and Green Mandarin. The freshness is enlivened by Juniper Berry, Pink Pepper, and Ginger, giving it a crisp, "Gin & Tonic" vibe that is immediately refreshing.

  • The Heart: As the citrus settles, a soft floral duo of Rose and Magnolia emerges. It doesn’t turn "perfumy" or overly feminine; instead, it softens the spices like a lilac-colored breeze.

  • The Drydown: It eventually settles into a creamy, clean base of Cedar and Musk. It never feels cloying or offensive, just sophisticated and incredibly "well-groomed."

The Vibe: Sophisticated Androgyny

If this scent were a person, it would be an androgynous figure in a crisp, thin white dress shirt and black trousers, accented with a lilac pocket square. Imagine them standing in a well-lit Parisian room as spring transitions into summer.

There is a distinct "posh vacation" energy here. It evokes the feeling of sitting in the reception of a high-end wellness center, sipping detox water in total tranquility.

Comparisons & Character

For those familiar with the collection, be warned: this bears almost no resemblance to the original Orpheon EDP. Where the original was serious and complex, the EDT is bright, summery, and more accessible.

  • Masculine Lean: The heavy yuzu note draws comparisons to the classic Issey Miyake Pour Homme.

  • The "Elysium" Connection: It shares a similar DNA with Roja Elysium Parfum Cologne - citrusy and bright, though it swaps the vetiver for a smoother cedar finish.

  • Modern Elegance: While some might find it a bit "generic" compared to the avant-garde roots of the house, there is no denying its high-class construction. It is younger and more vibrant than Hermès Barénia, making it a perfect "elevated" daily driver.

Final Verdict

The bottle, featuring a beautiful illustration by Gianpaolo Pagni, perfectly mirrors what's inside: a tribute to heritage through a modern lens.

Orphéon EDT is a luminous, herbal, and woody fragrance that captures a "spirited" interpretation of Parisian nightlife, reimagined for the daytime. It’s clean, it’s distinct, and it’s undeniably chic. Main Accords:  Citrus, Woody, Fresh Spicy, Aromatic, Musky, Floral. Longevity: Moderate with a clean, airy sillage. Best For: Midday spring/summer wear and those who love a "crisp, piney musk" finish.
